The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Resort (18 Holes 6,969 Yards, Par 72) A mountain retreat of serenity and harmony. A concept natured and developed under the careful supervision of 5 times British Champion, Peter Thompson of Thompson Wolveridge & Perrett. His vision was to create an exciting and challenging course for amateur and professional alike whilst still keeping in harmony with the natural scenery and rolling countryside. The course itself is set in a beautiful valley and the surrounding scenery is stunning. The slightly undulating course is not too demanding although water comes into play on 11 holes. The strategic on positioning of fairways and green-side bunkers call for accurate play, rather than long hitting. Even though, the par 5 are long – up to 584 yards from the back tee – the over all yardage of 6,969 from the blue (6,389 white and 5,623 red0 will make for a good score at a par of 72.

Chiang Mai Green Valley Country Club (18 Holes 7,177 Yards, Par 72) The largest course in the region was built in 1972 by Dennis Griffith and is located in the lovely Mae Rim Valley. Green Valley is a true championship layout. Although level from start to finish, the water hazards affecting 13 holes will provide enjoyment for every level of golfer. In particular, the “Island Greens” on holes 9 and 16 pose real threats as does hole 1, a par 5 of 610 yards from the back tees. There is a choice of three tees. Despite the fact that a bird’s eye view would see as much blue water as green vegetation, the course is not really a “Blue Monster” and offer a fair challenge for a good round. The deluxe clubhouse is one of Thailand’s best with excellent changing rooms, a well-equipped pro shop, driving range, putting green and fine dining restaurant overlooking the green.
